“Elegant, relaxed, stress-free. The Hoplit PI totally overcame my initial scepticism! For committed hard-tail riders who value comfortable and care-free riding, this titanium beauty is a dream.”

Anyone involved in product development will tell you that the simplest things are often the most difficult to implement. There’s frequently a lengthy struggle, usually with a number of setbacks, until finally the essence of the product remains. The words of Johann Joachim Winckelmann apply also to aesthetics: “Unity and simplicity are the two true sources of beauty.” This quotation from the German Enlightenment archaeologist and author comes across as extraordinarily relevant to our times. In an ever more complicated world, we look for simplicity – in both design and in technology. And little competes with the Hoplit PI MTB in that regard. The multi-butted tubes display a captivating minimalism, with no paint or decals spoiling the beauty of the hand-finished raw titanium; alone the sand-blasted lettering indicates the Hoplit PI’s origin.
The longer head tube allows an upright riding position, which means comfortable pedalling for hours on end. This silver machine will take you far above the tree line, where mobile phone coverage turns patchy and our always-on culture becomes a distant memory.
The relatively flat steering angle results in a longer trail, which in turn gives relaxed handling. If you opt for the Falkenjagd-developed rigid titanium fork, you’ll be taking the Hoplit PI MTB’s low maintenance requirements to the max: you might just need to clean it from time to time. The rigid fork has none of that ‘diva attitude’, and the sealed Pinion system is totally protected from mud and dust. If you want to keep that stuff off you as well, mudguards can be easily fitted with the pre-drilled braze-ons. For longer rides, a rack can also be added.
Gearing on the Hoplit PI MTB is provided by a 12- or 18-speed, evenly-spaced Pinion gearbox, with an overall ratio range of up to 636%, leaving you ready for any situation you might meet. A DT Swiss OPM O.D.L suspension fork looks after front end comfort; the bike can also be supplied with a Cannondale Lefty or a Falkenjagd-designed rigid titanium fork that is good for an overall loading of up to 185kg.
The Hoplit PI MTB can be supplied as a pure off-roader or equipped for everyday use, with mudguards, rack and/or dynamo lighting. The rear dropouts have separate braze-ons for rack and mudguards.
The optional Titanium package (Falkenjagd stem, bars and seat pin) takes the Hoplit PI MTB to the next level, and the Tune Components package – available in a range of eight anodised colours – allows visual accents to be added.
