Its name comes from the Greek "hoplite" (oπλον) which means light weapon, armor.

The ancient hoplites were armed just with the most essential they needed to win a fight.
Therefore they had been the most agile, flexible and the fastest moving and new formatting army of the ancient world and they were feared accordingly.

The "Hoplit" is the big brother (29 inches) of our "Hektor" (26 inches). So with our Hoplit you are armed alike with everything you need to win whatever is needed to win.

At all the important parameters such as the bottom bracket height, the wheel base or the handlebar height there are hardly no differences identifiable between the new Hoplit and our 26 inch Hektor.

We designed the head angle steeper as well, to compensate the more sluggish steering response of 29'er, and to ensure the required agility and responsiveness for CC racing.

More contoured S-bends at the chain- and seat-stays provide more tire- and foot-clearance.

In addition, corresponding to our 26-inch models we have kept the head tube as short as possible, as you sit more upright at a 29er bike in general due to its higher fork and the bigger front wheel. The chain stays are kept as short as possible, too - these are only 5mm longer than our accordant 26 inch models – i.e. instead of 42.9 cm just 43.4 cm to even the longer wheel base. All these adjustments are done for one reason only: for high speed.

Perfect maneuverable at slow speeds, extreme stable handling at high speeds: For this purpose the top tube was designed longer (622 mm effective at 19 inches) in order to decrease the pressure on the handlebar while using a shorter stem to increase steerability of the front wheel. The sum of all these alignments results in a more direct handling. You will feel it!

None the less, the steering never ever becomes nervous – thanks to the socalled centrifugal forces which stabilize a wheel the more, the larger its diameter is and the higher the speed becomes.

The handling of our Hoplit is always predictable and the bike runs smooth by itself in every imaginable situation. In addition, we choosed a geometry with a more slooping top tube, so you don´t need to give up the feeling of freedom you are used to have while riding a 26 inch frame.

The height of the bottom bracket has been lowered, so you will sit more integrated in the center of the frame instead of having the feeling of sitting just "above" the bike. The height of the bottom bracket is below the height of the two axles of the hubs resulting in a more safety riding on speedy turns. You will love this new biking experience!

Become a Hoplite - and we give you everything you need to be!
